Nowadays, operating a system is not just a matter of arriving and turning on the machines, because there are many variables associated that can affect its operation, and that lead us to the economic factors related to the productivity of the business. It is important to constantly monitor the behavior of our system, in order to determine the exact location of the problems (if any) or the different ways in which we can improve our system to make it more efficient. In itecna we offer four types of analysis that will give us the necessary information for future decision making related to our system, and these are:

Power quality analysis allows detecting problems in the supply voltage, based on the ARESEP standard AR-NT-SUCAL «Power Supply Voltage Quality» and IEEE standards.

The power factor indicates, to a certain extent, the efficiency of the process between the energy delivered by the distribution company and the energy consumed for production. Although reactive energy is necessary for the operation of a large amount of equipment, it represents an important percentage of the energy delivered by the distribution company. For this reason, surcharges have been defined in the electric billing that punish the operation with a low power factor (a significant proportion of reactive energy within the total consumption). The power factor study seeks to quantify the reactive energy consumed in order to find an alternative source (capacitor bank) and avoid taking this type of energy from our service supplier.

The best way to manage our system is to know its status. A very important indicator is loadability, i.e., what percentage of the total capacity of the system, equipment, devices, etc. is being used? This information can help in the decision making in times of growth, maintenance, restructuring, etc.

With the high cost of energy, and with the energy saving policies in place, it is of great importance to have a demand profile. The profile should indicate the real load behavior throughout the day and should also allow to check in which periods of the day the consumption is higher, what are the possible causes of this consumption, and, most importantly, how the process can be improved to reduce consumption. This information can be obtained through a load profile analysis.
Grounding System Testing

In any installation, the grounding system plays an essential role, since its functions are several: protection of people, low impedance path for atmospheric discharges or for fault detection.
An inadequate grounding system can put our integrity and that of our equipment at risk.
Due to its preponderant role, its condition must be diagnosed periodically, to know how safe the equipment is and, if not, what corrections must be made.
Transformer Testing

The transformer is the most important element of any electrical system. Thanks to this equipment, the transmission, distribution and use of energy can take place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
A failure of a transformer means that this energy transfer stops and for a company this means having to stop production, at the same time as it translates into economic losses.
Given the aforementioned importance of a transformer, it is of utmost importance to pay special attention to it.
At Itecna we offer transformer testing services. We have personnel that is trained through different certifications such as: «Master Transformer Specialist» from SDMyers and «Transformer Testing and Maintenance» from AVO Training Institute (a subsidiary of Megger) to perform an accurate and effective diagnosis of your transformer through electrical tests and oil analysis.
Atmospheric Discharge Protection Systems Testing

Our facilities are constantly exposed to lightning strikes. Lightning not only endangers our facilities, but also people’s safety.

Due to the operation of most of the systems against atmospheric discharges, which seek to capture the lightning to discharge it in a safe way, it is important to maintain a constant care of these systems, since the lightning capture will always be done, and the discharge must be safe, as a result of a system in optimal conditions.
A diagnosis of the condition of the system against atmospheric discharges would allow us to detect the weak points of the system and correct them in time to increase its reliability.
